My work in the style of Alberto Seveso

Today whilst in the studio for another module I took a simple portrait image in the style of Alberto Seveso the image took longer to create than I expected and I got quite bored but I think with patience and more time I could create more of these images to a much higher standard.

Editing- Robert Heinecken

Heinecken assembles found images from torn magazines and familar media iconography, he incoporates these public images and his own darkroom work to change the meaning of the original images. I think that the combination of photographs to create new meanings is something I could try with modern images of iconic people, objects, adverts etc.

Editing- Ram Martinez

Ram Martinez takes a variety of fashion, music, editorial and documentary photography. Amongst his fashion work I found these 2 images particularly interesting, I'm not sure whether he has created these images simply in an editing programme, or has used a print out of a photo against a backdrop to create a new photograph. Either way I think the photos tell more of a story than if they were just the simple stand alone portraits, and re-photographing photographs is something I would like to look at in my editing processes.

Editing- Alberto Seveso

I've found the work or Seveso to be particularly interesting in pushing the boundaries of what can be done in photoshop. He is a graphic designer working on photographs for c.d covers, advertisements, and magazine's, he adds and creates shapes in portraits to make them very modern, he uses mainly bright colours meaning his images really stand out and though his techniques look complex I would like to have a go myself at pushing myself to see what I can create in photoshop. -http://burdu976.com/

My own sports photography

I decided as part of my events mini project to look at photographing at sporting games and matches. Being on a commitee of a sports club at the univeristy myself I felt that our own uni teams were a good place to start, I sent a message to all the commitee members of sport clubs at our uni and asked if I could photograph them, I got a great response from this and throughout this project I will be photographing many of the teams in matches against other university sports team. So far I have photographed American Football, Badminton, Basketball and Fencing. Though for American Football I perhaps could have got better images with a better zoom lens I enjoyed photographing this one the most I like the unpredicatably of not only how and where the games going to go but also the weather conditions so will continue to try and photograph more outdoor sports. I also set up  this facebook page for the teams I photograph to be able to tag themselves in- http://www.facebook.com/#!/NatalieJadeLouiseSportsPhotography

Sports Photography- Bob Martin

Bob Martin is a multi award winning sports photography, he shoots action images for advertising, corporate and editorial clients. I like Martins images better than some of the Getty Images as whilst he is still capturing events, they are more like pieces of artwork. He uses very skilled techniques to capture every moment of action photography and I think his work is very sucsessful in the area of sports photography.

Sports photography- Getty Images

I have been looking at how and why sports photography is shot. Getty Images is a stock photo agency, that supplies a range of images to newspapers, websites, advertisers etc. They have a whole section dedicated to sports photography-http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/editorialimages/sport, most of these images are for editorial purposes therefore are there simply to capture the event. They can help to illustrate reviews and news stories about an event better than just words.

PH2010- Mini Projects Assignment

Mini Project 1- Advertising
I want to look at how photography is used to sell products and wether photographs can have an influence on the person who buys a certain type of product. I will look at creating my own collection of images that could be used to sell a variety of products, this will allow to me look at portraits aswell as still life photography and also will allow me to try working in the studio.

Mini Project 2- Street Photography
I have always been a fan of people watching I like to sit and watch people go by and figure out what type of person they are so during this project I will act up on this and photograph people that I find particularly interesting, such as street performers. I will take images of people who are unaware to create non staged images and also try asking people if I can photograph them this will help with me confidence in photography.

Mini Project 3- Editing
I will take some studio simple images and use computer programmes aswell as some skills I have as an artist to make simple images more exciting and/or thought provoking. I will try simple editing to make the images better aswell as trying things I maybe haven’t previously used to take the images away from reality.

Mini Project 4- Sport/ Action Photography
For this mini project I will research into photographers who create sports and action photography and the main purposes of creating such images, I will contact sports teams within the university to try and photograph a range of sports. I feel that this project particularly links to professional practise as there is definitely a career opportunity in this area. When completing this type of photography I will have to work quickly to create images of the perfect moments that can happen in split seconds over matches and games that usually don't last long. I want to create images that are professional enough to be used by clients such as the teams themselves, newspapers etc.
